LJ's First Flight
LJ was not the crying baby on his first flight. He peacefully slept while a 6-8 year old child (one row in front of us) cried because he wanted the window seat. On the second flight he cried a little but spent the majority of the time giggling at daddy. We did have to change his very messy diaper in the air. The bathroom is almost too tiny for most adults. But we managed.

The Big Scare
this morning LJ had a temperature of 102.5! That's really high for his age. I called the doctor (after calling my mom). But she thought since he didnt have any other problems (rash, vomit, appetite change, etc.) he was ok. Its not uncommon for infants to have fever immunizations. Wheww! I still have to watch him to make sure he has no other symptoms and that his fever goes away.

Now I'm the Pro!
LJ is four months! Its hard to believe. Today I was nursing in a room with another mom who was having trouble with her four day old. I told her it gets better (nursing, the pain in your shoulders and back, sleeping, everything).
I was nursing Leon, drinking water, and flipping through a magazine. She kept apologizing to me as her baby wailed because they were both trying to get the hang of nursing. Compared to her I really did look like a pro. But I still have a long way to go!
Four months was my personal deadline for ending our cosleeping arrangement and the constant nighttime nursing. I would prefer to not let him "cry it out." But I realize that might be the only thing that works. But before I try the Feber approach I'll try to slowly get him to sleep in his crib.
More Hiking Awaits Us in Washington!
LJ is a traveling fool or maybe his parents just are! In the last couple of weeks he did a mini road trip to Pennsylvania, a week at GrandMa's, and a massive East Coast tour to Maine. Now he is getting ready for his first plane ride which will take him all the way across the US to Washington State.
Last weekend LJ went with us on a 2.5 hour hike. There's more hiking in Washington State. I'm excited but as any good NEW mom would be, I'm nervous. That's a long plane ride (in coach). Plus adults have to be weary of going on hikes with my husband! What's easy and smooth to him, is not to most of the world.
But in all the trip should be fun! Its cooler and LJ will get to rock his gear given to him by cousins and friends in colder climates. And he'll wear his LLBean jacket! It matches daddy's! I'll take a pic for sure!
Is He Six Months?
Everyone seems shocked that LJ is four months. Most people say he looks six months but today someone even said nine months! LOL
He had his four month checkup today. He is 15 lbs 10 oz and 24 inches long. Everything checked out ok. Gracias a Dios! He also had his second dose of vaccines. Poor little guy. At least they time it so they "stab" him at the same time (two docs give different shots at same time in opposite legs).

If I had a camera...I would take a picture of this!
So in the spirit of "It Takes a Village" I hired a cleaning company to help me around the house. Having two pets, on top of having a new baby, makes keeping the house clean chanllenging. Unfortunately I had to cease using the company after my camera disappeared.
If I had a camera I would have taken a picture or video of LJ trying to roll over this morning. it was so cute and also sad. He was trying his best to get to a toy that was behind him and to the far right (seems like right is the side he'll likely roll over on first) but he couldn't get it. He was grunting and breathing hard. He made it to the side of his body but couldn't get the rest over or figure out how to move his head.
I would also take a picture of his hernia. It's almost gone!!! He has a very normal looking belly button now.
Someone said over weekend that his eyes look more grey than blue now. Um...I'm still not seeing that. They look the same to me as always.
I would also take a picture of all of his rolls!!! He is getting so fat! It's crazy because everyone is saying, "Oh he must be breast feed....he's so fat because he's breastfeed...he doesn't look 3 months old...he is the size of my 6 month old." Etc. The funny part is a month ago people said he was too small because I am breast feeding him. Multiple people told me I should think about giving him formula. He also scored "low" on some of his 2 month screenings. But now it looks like he'll be on the big side at his next check up.
I hope to get a camera before his next check up on the 22.

Not a Baby Anymore
It's hard to believe LJ is going on four months and thus no longer a newborn! He is already starting to teeth, hold toys, sit supported, and babble. He is also quite heavy! My estimate is he is 15 pounds! Now its almost time to start sleep training. More on that later....
