Table Manners

Leon's growing up, way too fast. He now can hold (for a while before he throws it to the floor) his sippy cup (well not actually a "sippy cup" it's a fancy Whole Foods version) full of water. I'm still making his food. His favorite foods are puffs, sweet potato, barley oat mix, and oatmeal with bananas. He does not seem to like asparagus or yogurt. He has also had carrots, peas, all types of squash, green beans, prunes, pears, and I'm sure other things that I am not thinking of now. I have also begun to "season" his food. So far I am just using cinnamon with his sweet potato.

OH, and he is still on breast milk. I pump three times a day and feed him about 3-4 times an afternoon and night.

On the one hand I look forward to him eating with his hands and trying new things (like mini-whole wheat pancakes with blue berries) but on the other hand, I want to keep him a cuddly little baby forever. LOL! He is almost 20 pounds now and slowly changing from newborn to infant to baby.

Where's Leon?

Leon loves to play hide and seek. The other day I realized he was doing it with me. His self! So I grabbed the camcorder and here we go:

Sick as a Puppy

lJ is sick. He has a nasty cough, a bit of wheezing, and (per doctor) another ear infection! He has also spit up mucus and vomited milk. I've been at home with him for three days. I LOVE my son. But I am definitely dealing with a range of emotions. On one hand, I'm a mother first but on the other I feel anxious about missing work. I also hate to admit this but I miss the "free time" I have when he is not sick and/at daycare. For example, I haven't been to the gym all week. Also, when Leon is sick he becomes super needy. He has been bf pretty much non-stop and he won't sleep in his crib or anywhere outside of my arms. So for the last three nights I have been sitting up,holding him so he can breathe and feeding him on demand. But that's what mommies do, right? I need to go call my mom and thank her! Go call yours!

This is how they do it!

A couple of weeks ago I asked myself, "How do stay at home moms deal with their kids when they are sick?" I feel awful and I'm home with Leon. I stayed home from work because I felt and still feel ill. I kept him out of daycare today because it just wasn't worth it to send him. He had his own doctor's appt today to follow up on his ear infection. Plus, didn't feel like making all of his bottles for daycare. Knowing I'd have to pump all day Monday to get ready for Tuesday. So Leon played hooky with me.

It's not easy being sick and caring for a baby. I coughed in his face by accident today and I have to keep remembering to wash my hands after blowing my nose, which is hard when I have him on my hip.

But we have both taking long naps today. So that's good.

By the way, the Doctor said Leon's ear infection has cleared up and I'm hoping he doesn't catch what I have.
